Truss Platform Sandals

2007-2008, 2012

The Truss Platform Sandals feature two versions of uppers and two versions of platform bottoms. The uppers are designed as open-toe ankle boots, utilizing a diagonal toe seam and trim to contrast the curved components that cradle the upper foot. These boots are secured with straps instead of zippers, providing style and functionality.

The bottoms, namely the heels or platforms, are composed of thin wood planks that have been laser-cut and laminated. This technique is explored to reduce the bulk and weight of typical platform heels and allows for intricate undercuts that are impossible to achieve through casting, CNC, or traditional shop tools. The design focuses on retaining only the essential structure needed to ensure the platform’s strength and support for wearing and walking.
